Meaning and Reading Lauren Glover

This poem to me signifies that, poems in general, should be a thing of beauty and elegance. The poet makes reference several times to words that relate to silence; mute, dumb, wordless. As we are aware, a poem cannot literally be wordless, but they do not contain prose like that of which you would find in a novel. Therefore, we have to ‘fill in the gaps’ ourselves and understand and interpret it in our own way. The use of comparison to the fruit and birds are, in my opinion, something that is natural and has a beauty of it’s own and a poem should be written and read in that way.
